I thought that more of the content on handsaws that is available on the internet would be in this version of the book, but it wasn't. The internet articles are probably just as good for the handyman, and save the cost of the book

As far as can be learned the first saws of any kind manufactured in the United States were made by Wilham Rowland, who started in business in Philadelphia in 1806. In 1823 A aron Nichols opened a small plant in Philadelphia, and in 1828 or 1829 a firm inN ew York City took up the making of circular saws fromE nglish steel. These vere probably the first circular saws made in this country. Noah Worrel began, inN ew York, about 1835, to make trowels and small circular saws....
